Holy Childhood Sisters

Amid the dry period of new vocations in religious congregations, the Servants of the Holy Childhood of Jesus have been blessed with new life in their community.

The board of St. Joseph CYCC as well as friends and stakeholders came together for the Annual General Meeting (AGM). It was a vibrant event at the end of a challenging year 2020.

The temporary professed sisters embarked on an adventure at PheZulu Safari park.

In November 2019, we started a crowdfunding and fundraising campaign to get a solar system for our children’s home St. Joseph CYCC in Mbongolwane. Ten months later, we have reached our goals – and the new system is ready to go.

South African president Cyril Ramaphosa has announced the closure of all public schools due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Holy Childhood School will remain open, as it is a member of the Independent Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA).

Churches and other places of worship are now recognized as essential and have resumed their services.

The national lockdown did not hold the Holy Childhood sisters of Eshowe to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Sister Fidelis Schramm.

Four years ago Sr. Teressa Zungu, a member of the Holy Childhood Sisters in South Africa, started sewing courses for women around the rural town of Eshowe. Today, her idea has grown into a project for the whole of Zululand, supported by German development funds.
