Renewal of Vows

This February, two Holy Childhood Sisters renewed their vows. Sr. Maria Machi and Sr. Yolanda Fihlani vowed to the Almighty God to live their life in Chastity, Poverty and Obedience.

Three years after their first profession Sr. Maria and Sr. Yolanda decided to request for the renewal of profession – and they were accepted. In preparation for this day they had a recollection day and reflection with Sr. Gregoria Lutter and Sr. Assumpta Hadebe. On the day, the ceremony took place in St. Benedict’s Cathedral, in the presence of the Congregation and their fellow sisters during Mass. “In all that you do and in living your vows bare in mind that you are not doing it for anyone but for God”, Fr. Victor’s Chavunga OSB said to them. After the homily the Sisters moved up to the sanctuary and Sr. Assumpta, Regional Superior of the Holy Childhood Sisters, asked them what they are asking of the Church. The two sisters answered that they would like to renew their vows for another year. They also individually proclaimed their vows into the hands of the Regional Superior who was delegated by the Superior General, Sr. Katharina Ganz.

After Holy Mass all the Sisters had breakfast together in the Eshowe Convent. For Sr. Maria and Sr. Yolanda, it was a joyful day as they continue to answer the divine call and giving all to follow Christ more closely.
