Amid the dry period of new vocations in religious congregations, the Servants of the Holy Childhood of Jesus have been blessed with new life in their community.
Not long ago, Lungisile Silangu was received as a candidate of the Holy Childhoood Sisters in the Region of St. Clare. Lungisile comes from a place called uMgodi which is situated at the South Coast. She came to know our congregation through Region Superior Sr. Assumpta who belongs to the same neighbourhood as her. After being in contact together, Lungisile was invited for a come and see workshop. Unlike most cases where young women attend these workshops and then return to their home to discern more before making their decision, Lungisile decided that she wanted to join immediately.
She then moved to Mbongolwane into the formation house of candidates and postulants. Sr. Bongiwe who is her formator introduced her to prayer life, liturgy and the life of our Mother Foundress and continues to teach and guide her how to love community life. Apart from lessons on a daily basis she also has chores like every other sister in the convent. ” I bake alter bread and I enjoy it very much”, says Lungisile.
Despite the hard time of not having young vocations, which most congregations are going through currently, we feel blessed to have another young woman join our way of life and we pray that what God has started in Lungisile He may bring into completion.
