Holy Childhood Sisters

It is with very heavy hearts that we have to announce the sudden passing of Sister Sindisiwe-Promise Nzimande on October 4th. She was only 40 years old when God decided to have her return home to him.

It is with deep sadness that the Holy Childhood Sisters have to report on the passing of Sr. Birgitt Loch on June 17th.

Sr. Dolores was an integral part of the Holy Childhood Sisters in South Africa for more than sixty years. At the end of February, the sad news of her passing reached her fellow sisters in South Africa.

The year 2022 started with busy and exciting times for our children’s home in Mbongolwane. Five new children have joined the St. Joseph family.

One of our young sisters, Sr. Maria Machi, has been appointed acting principal of Antonia-Werr-Crèche in Mbongolwane. She takes over the responsibilities of Sr. Bongiwe Xulu, who requested a sabbatical leave.

With a sad heart, the Holy Childhood School received a notice of resignation from our principal, Mrs. Meg Kennedy. She will remain with the school until 31st of December 2022.

Sr. Faith Myende made her Final Profession at the beginning of December. Together with her, Sr. Bongiwe Xulu celebrated her Silver Jubilee in her home parish of St. Joseph Mission in Mbongolwane.

Giving back to less fortunate children: Following the idea of a six-year-old learner at Holy Childhood School, the Grade R class of 2021 collected toys and other items from their homes to give to St. Joseph CYCC children as a sign of their love and care.

The Holy Childhood School has decided to open a Grade 000 as there is a vacant space and a need which will set a good foundation for little ones before they begin formal schooling.

The civil unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and other South African provinces deeply affected the whole country. At the same time, the Holy Childhood Sister’s projects in South Africa faced great challenges – especially the children’s home St. Joseph CYCC in Mbongolwane.
